John’s YouTube Ukulele Channel

John Allnutt has been teaching percussion and stringed instruments since 2008 and is an active educator and performer in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. He performs and teaches percussion, drum set, ukulele, and guitar.

John earned his Bachelor’s degree in percussion performance under the distinguished professor James Campbell at the University of Kentucky. Throughout his undergraduate education, he was a member of the Cavalier drum and bugle corps in 2003, ‘04, and ‘06 when they received two DCI World Championships, and a member of Rhythm X Indoor Ensemble in 2007. He then completed his Master's in Music Education at Southern Methodist University in 2012. John is currently a teaching artist with Innovative Percussion.

John’s students have many opportunities to perform locally from farmer’s markets and local businesses to places in need of musical cheer such as senior citizen centers.

Currently, John is very active with his Facebook Ukulele Group and YouTube channel - John’s Ukulele Cafe’. His passion is making instructional and audio reference videos from the Daily Ukulele series of books by Jim and Liz Beloff.

John resides in Richmond with his wife Laura and dog Sam. He enjoys cooking and growing food, meeting new people through their Airbnb, roasting coffee, and spreading joy through playing and teaching music.
